High-quality galacto-oligosaccharide (GOS) ingredient
The Ingredion Group of companies, leading global providers of ingredient solutions to diversified industries, announced the introduction of BIOLIGO® GL 5700 IMF GOS in Europe, giving infant formula manufacturers a new safe, high-quality source of GOS dietary fibre to enhance the nutritional profile of their products.
“This galacto-oligosaccharide (GOS) ingredient brings infant formulas and baby milks closer to mother’s milk, which naturally contains oligosaccharides including GOS”, said Karin Meissner, Ph.D., business development manager, clinical and infant nutrition, Ingredion.
“With BIOLIGO® GL 5700 IMF GOS and Ingredion’s 20 years of experience in serving this sensitive population, manufacturers can confidently formulate products they know will be safe and effective.”
BIOLIGO® GL 5700 IMF GOS is a soluble dietary fibre made from lactose in the form of a syrup that contains 57% GOS (dry basis). To enable manufacturers make an easy substitution of other GOS ingredients, Ingredion’s BIOLIGO® GL 5700 IMF GOS is equivalent to the sugar profile of other forms of GOS already on the market.
“This supports the straightforward exchange of one ingredient for another,” said Meissner.
BIOLIGO® GL 5700 IMF GOS is currently manufactured at Ingredion’s modern facility in Icheon, South Korea, and meet the required hygiene standards for infant formula production.
